<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>Fan Chuan</em> (反串) refers to an actor temporarily performing a role outside their primary role category — not limited to gender crossing. These are the most famous cross-role operas, traditionally staged as end-of-season &#8220;box-sealing&#8221; (fengxiang) gala performances.</p>
